Auxillary Battlefield Relief Assocation of Macon

   In May of 1864 a public meeting was held in Wilkinson County to take steps to aid the Battlefield Relief Association in Macon for procuring contributions for  wounded soldiers who were fighting around Atlanta.
   Dr. William Taylor was appointed president, James Jackson, Vice President and E. J. Coats, Secretary. A committe of five were appointed  to prepare business for the meeting. They were Jonathan Rivers,  Dr. R. J. Cochran, James Lord, J. N. Wall and Willis Allen.
  Wilkinson County was voted to become an Auxillary Battlefield Relief Assocation and Jonathan Rivers was selected at the Executive Committee person.
 County District members were selected to collect contributions and have them at the disposal of the Executive Committe. They were: James G. Ockington, Irwinton; J. T. Hughes, High Hill District; Willis Allen, Turkey Creek District; Thomas W. Dupree Griffin District; M. M. Bloodworth, Bloodworth District; J. R. Thompson, Lords District; S. J. Stubbs Fork District and
J. R. Bragg, Ramah District .

June 14, 1864
D. Solomon, agent at Gordon delivered
7 hams, 100 pounds flour, 31 dozen eggs, 1 coop of chickens, 7 pounds of butter, 1 jar lard, 1 peck snap beans, 1 peck cucumbers, 1 peck Irish potatoes, $49 in cash from sundry ladies of the Ramah district. Also received from Co. R. C. Bonner, of Jones,  1 ham and a lot beets.
